About Our Staff

Dr. Horst graduated from Cedar Crest High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania before continuing his studies at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, he became an associate veterinarian at a very busy multi-doctor practice, where he stayed for 4 years, gaining a large amount of practical experience.

In 2006, he designed and built Animal Health Care of Myerstown, a few miles from where he grew up. It was always his goal to build an animal hospital that combines state-of-the-art care, with a practical approach to medicine.

As a member of the Veterinary Information Network, Dr. Horst participates in an online community of veterinarians and board-certified specialists who share cases and information. This allows him to provide your pet with the collective experience of over 42,000 veterinarians who collaborate to provide your pet with the best possible care.

His main areas of interests include small animal medicine and surgery, with a focus on endocrine disease. Dr. Horst has enjoyed watching his practice grow along with his family which boasts 3 children (with another on the way), his beautiful wife, Jodi, and their family dog, Belle (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel).

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, wood working, and helping out with the children’s program at Covenant United Methodist Church in Lebanon.

Danielle graduated from ELCO High School, has an Associate Degree in Business Management and a Dog Training Certificate from Animal Behavior College. She is a mother of two beautiful children that also attend school in the ELCO School District.

After 17 years in Banking and 20 + years managing/mentoring people, she decided to make a life change doing what she loves, helping animals. She joined AHCM in May of 2015 as a Veterinary Assistant while pursuing a formal education in dog training.  In 2007 her son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. A few years later she read an article about service dogs that are able to detect fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Looking into it more she quickly realized $35K for a dog was out of her price range.  Instead she headed to the Diabetic Alert Dog Training School in Seattle Washington where she trained her dog Zonta to be of service for her son.

Through this program she realized her passion and talent for training. So she decided to go back to school for dog training and graduated from Animal Behavior College in July 2015.

She has been working with animals from a very young age. She is also a member of Berks County Dog Training Club where Zonta (her lab mix) and she work on new skills weekly.
