After 17 years in Banking and 20 + years managing/mentoring people, she decided to make a life change doing what she loves, helping animals. She joined AHCM in May of 2015 as a Veterinary Assistant while pursuing a formal education in dog training. In 2007 her son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. A few years later she read an article about service dogs that are able to detect fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Looking into it more she quickly realized $35K for a dog was out of her price range. Instead she headed to the Diabetic Alert Dog Training School in Seattle Washington where she trained her dog Zonta to be of service for her son.
Through this program she realized her passion and talent for training. So she decided to go back to school for dog training and graduated from Animal Behavior College in July 2015.
She has been working with animals from a very young age. She is also a member of Berks County Dog Training Club where Zonta (her lab mix) and she work on new skills weekly.
